Delivery Formats

There are three main delivery formats for COMP101:

  • In person programming workshops
  • In person lecture/workshops
  • Online support sessions with academic tutors

Support Sessions

  • There are (almost) one hundred people on this module, ad-hoc support is not viable
  • Support sessions are there to support you are provide guidance
  • NO ONE in the computing team can read minds, you must ask for help

Making use of support

  • Support sessions only work if you use them
    • Ask questions about the topic we’re covering
    • If things don’t make sense ask
    • Get feedback on work in progress

Student Representation

Student Reps

Student reps are vital in making sure the student voice is heard at every level of the University decision making process!

We will need a rep from each year group (if you don’t have one already)

Talk to your student reps, they can give us infomation we need to do things!

Welcome

Store your work on version control

(there is a story behind this slide, if I get a chance I’ll tell it to you…)

On submission

  • The university does not regard ’technical issues’ as an excuse for non-submission
  • Version control can help provide the ‘iterative approach’ I was talking about
  • The submission for the assignment is a version control repository
